What is CIMA FLP?
Let’s have a sneak peek of CIMA FLP in case you are unfamiliar before we dive into exploring the program further:
The CIMA Finance Leadership Programme is a digitally oriented pathway that leads to attaining the CGMA Designation, which is a part of CIMA’s CGMA Professional Qualification.
Upon completing this program, you will be awarded the same qualification as you would get through CIMA’s CGMA Professional Qualification (PQ) pathway.
How does CIMA FLP work?
Let’s figure it out to address the elephant in the room!
CIMA FLP has a seamless and effective method that comprises passing various levels to get the certification. Just like PQ, CIMA FLP also has three main levels that consist of:
- Operational Level
- Management Level
- Strategic Level
To pass each level, you have to go through a process.
You learn a topic from the content. At the end of the topic, there are topic-level assessment questions which are also called TLA’s. It is important to note that there are around 300 topics and not all of them are assessed using TLA’s.

Regardless of which programme you choose, you will take the same case study exams, under the same exam conditions and to the same standards.
As it is clearly visible, case study exams must be passed to progress to the next level. You will be taking the case study exams along with the PQ students and will have the same papers. Furthermore, students are ineligible to sit for a case study exam without having done any of the assessment tasks and completed all relevant BSAs.
What is the difference between FLP and PQ?
What will be the syllabus for CIMA FLP?
The syllabus for both the FLP and PQ exam is the same. You will be tested for the same topics in both exams.
You will be sitting for the same case study exam at the end.
How much does CIMA FLP cost?

The only main difference between plus and premium is that plus does not provide tutor support and live sessions.
Should I go with CIMA FLP or CIMA PQ?
It completely depends on the exam preparation methods you have in your mind and the study modes at your disposal.
If you choose the CIMA PQ route then you can:
- Choose an offline/online tuition provider based on your priorities
- Can take the help of a tuition provider only for papers that you find difficult to pass (and study for the rest of the papers yourself)
- Pay in installments. For FLP, you must pay one time, but for PQ, you pay per exam, so pay in smaller chunks which is a pocket-friendly way
If you choose the CIMA FLP route, then you can:
- Skip the OT exams and directly appear for case study exams
- Learn from anywhere at your own pace
- Study from material designed by CIMA experts.
That was it about CIMA FLP. We hope that you’re all clear now and ready to get a knack for it!
